President: Kathryn Stone L’07
Kathryn serves as chief of staff for the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, a trade association representing hoteliers owning more than 40% of the hotels in the United States. Kathryn hails from New Hampshire, but has lived in Atlanta off and on since 1999. When she’s not cheering for the Orange, you can find her dancing the Lindy Hop or performing with the Atlanta Master Chorale.
Fun SU fact: Kathryn won a halftime contest during a basketball game at the Carrier Dome!
Secretary: Taqiyyah Ellis ’93, G’95
Taqiyyah is a project manager at CHAMP Cargo Community Systems with responsibility for several multi-national projects. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Syracuse University, and a master of business administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. In 2009, she completed her PMP certificate and is a certified project management professional. Taqiyyah enjoys volunteering and spending quality time with family and friends. She’s married with two children ages 20 and 14.Fun SU Fact(s): Using her family’s secret recipe, Taqiyyah baked and successfully sold bean pies (she recruited her roommates and friends to help) to make extra money while a student at SU. Taqiyyah also enjoyed Reggae Nights at Sutter’s Mill...those were the days!
Treasurer: Don Vassel ’89
Don is CEO of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, a mentoring organization that provides empowerment programs for youth living in at-risk environments. He’s also the former CEO of two leading cinema entertainment and advertising companies, Screenvision and Cinema Screen Media. Don previously held corporate development and strategy vice president positions with ADP and Thomson S.A. He received a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Syracuse and a master’s degree in engineering economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Fun SU Fact: Don is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and participated in a winning step team at Greek Freak at Manley Field House. His favorite food while a student was steak and cheese subs from Zorba the Greek off Marshall Street!
Co-Chair, Events Committee: Miko Horn ’95
Miko is the event director for the Allan Houston Legacy Foundation (AHLF), where she combines her passion for sports with her fondness for helping people. Established in 2001, the AHLF strives to restore strong family units, enhance spiritual growth, encourage education and skill development, and foster economic empowerment—all through original programs in fatherhood and entrepreneurship.
Fun SU fact: Miko’s boss, Allan Houston, is the assistant general manager of the New York Knicks, where former Syracuse basketball star and NCAA champion Carmelo Anthony currently plays. Both keeping with Orange!
Co-Chair, Generation Orange: Nicole Osborne ’15
Nicole earned a bachelor’s degree in policy studies from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, a background that matches perfectly with her role as data associate for KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools. In a growing region of over 2,900 students, she supports work in assessment coordination, compliance, and overall data strategy.
On campus, Nicole was dedicated to enhancing the student experience through evaluating and shaping leadership programs, advising multicultural mentoring programs, and serving as a resident advisor and teacher’s assistant for public policy courses. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys baking, volunteering, hiking, and blogging.
Fun SU fact: Nicole went on alternative spring break trips to San Francisco and Washington, DC, and studied abroad in South Africa.
Immediate Past President: Curt Coulombe ’92
Curt is a certified financial planner at Elliott & Associates Wealth Advisors Inc., with a focus in fee-based financial planning for Metro Atlanta professionals and business owners. Fluent in Spanish, he’s passionate about international studies and has worked with Emory University’s International Issues Forum, The Atlanta Center for International Relations, and The Southern Center of International Studies. Curt likes to travel internationally in his free time.
Fun SU fact: Curt worked his way through college, including driving a limo and selling hot dogs.
