Executive Director of Regional Advancement

About Karen
A graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Karen Spear served as SU’s regional director of development for Upstate New York since 2007. In 2010, she became Executive Director of Regional Advancement and now manages a team of four development officers who engage alumni, parents, and friends in SU’s “geographies of opportunity,” parts of the country with the largest base of SU connections. In addition to her management responsibilities, Spear is focused on Atlanta, where she helps alumni connect with each other and the University. She facilitates the work of the Atlanta Regional Council, a group of area alumni and parents working to establish a strong base of support in the region. Spear is originally from Greenville, South Carolina, and enjoys returning to the south where her family still lives.
